Do you need comfort right now? Perhaps you
have had or are currently dealing with some life circumstances that have caused hurt that you’ve never
experienced before and you don’t know where to turn. Your comforter, God, is present. He is called “The Comforter” and He gives
peace and healing to hurting hearts the moment we believe and receive, He is
there. (2Corth.
1-3).
I don’t know about you,
but there is not a day that goes by that I don’t need the Lord. I need Him to breath, eat, think, function, and
even to live. There are times when I need Him so much that I wish He were here
physically so that I could touch Him. Especially during those times when I’m
going through that trial test or midnight hour moment when saying a prayer is
not enough. Hearing the words of encouragement flowing my way, are falling on
deaf ears, the tears won’t stop flowing, and the pain I am feeling seems to have
taken up residence and will not leave.
It’s during these times that I understand this is something self cannot
do. I have to rely not only on my
relationship with Him but I’m also thankful for His spiritual touch,
presence and comfort, I have to trust Him to do what my flesh cannot do. (Isaiah 41:10: "Do not fear, for I am with you; do not
be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help
you, yes, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.")
No matter what you need Him to do, if it’s to
cover you, comfort you, shield you, lift you up, heal, deliver you, or restore you, He is
able to do just that. Will it be overnight?
Probably not, although He is able to do that if He so desires. I don’t understand how Christians can walk
around and act like they are operating in self, for the very air we breathe we
need Christ to provide; after all, He created it. When we as Christians can get to the point
where we can truly humble ourselves and begin to recognize God in everything,
no matter how small or big, we will then begin to feel a closer walk and
relationship with Christ. We will begin to feel His comfort and presence like
never before. (Colossians 1:16
“for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on
earth. He made the things we can see and
the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in
the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.”)
God understood that there would be times the
tears would flow, hurt would be present, loneliness would come to take up
residence, and discouragement would rear its ugly head. He also knew that there would be moments in
our life that we could only be comforted by Him. That’s why He made sure we had
everything we needed to make it through.
The Lord also knew that these would especially be the times when the
enemy would rear his ugly head. But, he
equipped us for that as well. (1John 4 “But you belong
to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people,
because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the
world.”)
So no matter what you are facing, hurting, or
need healing from, call it out and give it the great comforter. Tell Him, Lord I need you to comfort and heal
me from the betrayal, disrespect, infidelity, broken trust, uncertainty,
brokenness, loneness, death, loss, etc. Let it go and give it to the comforter.
Don’t be ashamed, you are not alone. Let
Him know that you not only need His comfort but you need Him to cover you. Lord,
I need you to cover me, shield me from all dangers seen and unseen, shield me from
the traps being set for me, and cover me as I walk through the shadow of the
valley of death. Heal, Comfort, Deliver, and Cover Me Lord. Now, watch comfort
and peace begin to come. (John 16:33: "I
have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you
will have tribulation. But be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.")
Remember, your circumstances may not change over night, but how you handle them will begin to change. You are not alone no matter how it
may feel right now. This too shall pass.
2Corinthians 1:3-4: "Blessed
be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God
of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to
comfort those who are in any trouble by the comfort with which we ourselves are
comforted by God."
